"Singing ability requires strong lungs, healthy vocal chords, and a brain that can call the tune.
Distinct areas of the brain are in charge of various components of musical ability. This components include the ability
to hit the "right" notes (pitch), know the difference between notes, move up and down on a scale, sing in tune, and
have a good sense of rhythm and tempo.
To be a good singer, different parts of the brain must be able to process all of
these components in sync. A person can inherit singing ability, but exposure to music growing up also can influence ability.
To be an excellent singer, a person must also have what is called "technique", which includes a mastery of the musical components -
plus the ability to produce beautiful tones that will carry out from a stage into an audience ever the sound of a band or an orchestra."
